Students will study drama, music, dance, literature and creative writing in one of LAUSD’s finest performance and instructional facilities. A magnificent 1200-seat theater will be a gateway to the arts for the entire neighborhood. The historical and technical elements of performance will be taught with a thematic emphasis on the power writers and performers have to transform society. The curriculum will feature modern, culturally relevant works as well as canonized texts. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a wide range of dynamic performances, including Folklorico presentations, bilingual theatrical pieces, and poetry readings and slams. Partnerships with arts and entertainment organizations will connect students with talented professional artists.
